PubNet Wireless Network

Wireless computing is now possible in Millar Library via the campus PubNet Wireless Network. This allows you to browse the Web or check your e-mail on your laptop while working anywhere in the Library.

To access the network, you must:

1. Set up an odin account with OIT

The OIT Helpdesk has tutorials for setting up your odin account. You can start the process by going here.

2. Purchase a network card

For PC users, you can purchase a network card at the Campus Bookstore Powersource Electronics Department for $89.00. MAC I-books and Powerbooks have an internal network card and will only require registration with OIT. Many newer PCs also have built-in network cards. If you are not sure about your computer's networking capabilities, contact the OIT Help Desk at 725-HELP or through their Help Desk Page.

3. Once you've purchased a network card, install it according to the manufacturer's directions. You should not have to change any settings. Next, open up your favorite browser, such as Internet Explorer. As soon as you do, you will be automatically redirected to a new page that looks like this:

For login, enter your odin username -- e.g., bvxx, not bvxx@pdx.edu.
Enter your password. You should then see a new pop-up that looks like this:

You should then be redirected to the page you originally wanted.

Connectivity is best on the north side of the second, third, and fourth floors.

If you don't have a wireless card, go here.

Instructions for Mac users coming soon.
