Call Number = COMDSC [for CD's] or PHONODSC [for Vinyl Records/LPs]
Primary Locations = Circulation Desk for CDs; Third Floor shelves south of the elevator lobby for Vinyl Records Map for Music Locations on the Library's Third Floor
The call number for a compact disc usually consists of the prefix "COMDSC" followed by an abbreviation for the name of the recording company, plus the identifying number for the particular recording. For example, "COMDSC DGG 447075" is a Deutsche Grammophon recording (consisting of 7 sound discs) of the complete Beethoven string quartets, as performed by the Emerson String Quartet.
The call numbers for vinyl records [LPs] are created in a similar fashion, except that "PHONODSC" is used as the prefix. Please stop by the Circulation Desk for assistance in finding the CD's or phonograph records you need for listening or checking out. Listening stations with turntables and headphones for listening to vinyl records are located outside the Scores Room on the Third Floor. To play CDs or DVDs, you can use any of the 118 computer workstations located in the First Floor OIT Computer Lab and the Second Floor Library Research Center. You can either check out headphones at the Circulation Desk or bring your own headphones to listen at these computer workstations.
