Hoover's Online
Includes listing of industry associations, whose websites often include articles and statistics on major industry-related issues .
Standard & Poor's NetAdvantage
Offers on-line access to popular research products such as Industry Surveys, Stock Reports, Corporation Records, The Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives, The Outlook, Mutual Fund Reports among others.
Investext Plus
Analyst reports and profiles on major public or private companies worldwide. Usu. covers business description, products, history, and financial analysis.
:: Industry & Trade Associations ::

Such organizations are dedicated to promoting the industries they are in and often collect extensive industry-specific data that are not available elsewhere. Their Web sites sometimes make such data or analytic articles/reports freely available. Contacting them directly by calling or emailing are also a valid way of collecting exclusive information. To find an industry-specific association, try the following two sources:

STAT-USA
Releases and data on the US economy and international trade.
Econlit
Subject indexing and abstracts of journals and over 500 collective volumes per year, plus books, dissertations, and working papers.

Government Information - A Research Guide
A guide on government information at PSU and the Web. Two especially useful government websites are: FirstGov.gov (official US information portal), and FedStats.gov (statistics from federal agencies)
Congressional Universe
Citations and full text to U.S. legislative information. Pay special attention to "Hot Bills & Topics"
EIU Country Intelligence

Provides detailed reports on country commerce, finance, business briefings, business intelligence and summary analysis.

PAIS
contains abstracts of journal articles, books, statistical yearbooks, directories, conference proceedings, research reports and government documents covering topics in public and social policy, business, economics, finance, law, international relations, public administration, government, political science, and other social sciences -- with emphasis on issues that are or might become the subjects of legislation.
Sociological Abstracts
Sociological Abstracts covers the academic and professional literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. The database draws information from an international selection of over 2,600 journals and other serials publications, plus conference papers, books, and dissertations. Citations to journal articles published after 1974 include abstracts.
Urban Studies: Sage Fulltext
Anthropology, economic development, economics, education, planning theory, political science, public administration, urban policy -- available full text.
Social Sciences Citation Index via Web of Science
Multidisciplinary databases of bibliographic information gathered from thousands of scholarly journals. The databases may be searched by: topic, author, publication journal, author address, cited author, cited work, or cited year.
Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management
Consists of thirteen (13) databases relating to environment and pollution. These include "Ecology Abstracts", "Pollution Abstracts", "Water Resource Abstracts", and others in toxicology, health and safety, and risk analysis.

Other possible databases: ComAbstracts & Communications Abstracts (for media/advertising-related topics), PsycINFO (for human resources management, advertising/media-related topics).
