FINDING BOOKS:Using VIKAT (online catalog)and locating materials in the PSU Library

VIKAT http://vikat.pdx.edu is the Portland State University online catalog. Find out what titles (either books or journals) PSU Library owns by using Vikat.

Use VIKAT to search for books by keyword, author, title, or subject.

VIKAT locates journals by title, not by subject. Do not use VIKAT to find individual articles. You can do that by using the Databases page.

Boolean operators can be used to narrow or expand searches:

AND	Narrows the search by searching for both terms.
OR	Expands the search by searching for one term or the other.
NOT	Eliminates the term from the search results.

For example:

public policy AND oregon, will find titles (not journal articles) only about Oregon public policy.

cities OR towns will find titles about either cities or towns.

Portland NOT Maine will find titles about Portland that do not contain the word Maine.
