SOIL MAPS

Soil Surveys are paperbound publications containing text and soil maps. Each Soil Survey covers a county (e.g. Soil Survey of Gilliam County, Oregon). They are cataloged, and listed in PSU's Online Public Access Catalog (SIRSI): call number: S591.A22, and shelved on the 5th floor.

CONTENTS

The following is a table of contents for a typical Soil Survey:

Index to soil map units
General nature of the county

Soil maps for detailed planning
Use and management of soils
Soil properties
Classification of soils
Soil series and morphology

Only those re. California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington are on the shelf. The rest are in storage, except for the Metro area (e.g. Multnomah County) which are shelved in the workroom on the Science-Engineering floor of the Library. Ask for them at the reference desk.
