Pura Belpré Award |
| This award is presented biennially and honors Latino authors and illustrators whose work best portrays, affirms and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in a children’s book. The award, established in 1996, is named after Pura Belpré, the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library. The following list includes the award winners, and their respective call numbers in the Millar Library. The Children’s Literature Award Winners are all shelved together at the beginning of the PZ call number range in the southeast corner of the 5th floor. Titles without call numbers are not currently owned by the Millar Library. Ask for help at the reference desk on the 2nd floor if you need assistance with obtaining a copy from another library. The list of award winners and their locations in the Millar Library can be retrieved by entering “Pura Belpre Award” as a keyword search in the Vikat online catalog.
